  68. These are just some of the exciting new features implemented in version 1.25--
  69.  
  70.     NEW: Built-in scheduler!  You can now set up Teleport Pro to run projects
  71.        whenever you like, using a convenient built-in scheduler.  The new
  72.        Teleport Pro Scheduler handles multiple projects, running either
  73.        sequentially or in parallel, and can manage connection conflicts --
  74.        it can even run projects on separate connections!
  75.     NEW: Command-line switches improve project automation:  specify run,
  76.        update, relink, autoconnect, autodisconnect, and autoexit as command-
  77.        line parameters.
  78.     NEW: New Start button behavior automatically queues BOTH new and old
  79.        (already retrieved) files when pressed.  New files are retrieved first,
  80.        then old files are automatically scanned for updates.
  81.   NEW: Improved parser leniency:  handles more common HTML authoring mistakes,

  87. SPECIAL NOTE:  NEW FILE UPDATING SYSTEM

  90. Probably the most noticeable change (as of Version 1.25), is that Teleport no
  91. longer has separate Start and Refresh buttons.  Both functions have been
  92. incorporated into a single Start button.
  93.  
  94. When you now Start a project, Teleport will scan the project database looking
  95. for files that match your retrieval specifications, but which have never
  96. before been received.  If it finds any such files, it queues them for
  97. retrieval.  And if Teleport find files that were previously retrieved, but
  98. are possibly out-of-date, its queues those for updating -- all in the same
  99. session.

  101. When updating, Teleport gets files only if the remote server says that they
  102. have changed, since the last time Teleport retrieved the file.
  103.  
  104. To give you more flexibility, Teleport uses additional rules for determining
  105. when to update files.  The new Update settings can be found on the Project
  106. Properties, Exploration page.

  110. NEW UNLIMITED UPGRADE POLICY

  113. Because of the confusion over whether and when registered users will be
  114. eligible for free upgrades, we've decided to make it simple:  All upgrades
  115. to Teleport Pro are free for registered users, regardless of version number.

  117. Also, the unregistered per-project file limit has been doubled to 200 files.

  121. CONVERTING OLDER VERSION PROJECT FILES
  122. ======================================
  123.  
  124. Beginning with Version 1.20, Teleport Pro uses a new, more compact database
  125. structure and a new type of project file (.tpp file).  Teleport Pro will
  126. automatically convert project files created by older versions of Teleport
  127. Pro -- but once saved in the new v1.20 format, these project files will
  128. become unusable by the previous versions of the program.  If you plan to
  129. keep and use older versions of Teleport Pro, be sure to save a copy of your
  130. project files in their original format before you open (and then save)
  131. the files using Version 1.20 or later.

  135. A NOTE ON JAVA SUPPORT
  136. ======================

  138. When you run SETUP to install Teleport Pro for the first time, it will create a 
  139. "bin" directory in the folder where you install Teleport Pro.  This bin will
  140. contain two files, CLASSES.ZIP and JAVAP.EXE, needed for Teleport to retrieve
  141. Java applets.

  143. DO NOT UNZIP the CLASSES.ZIP file!

  147. 32-BIT WINSOCK REQUIRED
  148. =======================
  149.  
  150. At this time, Teleport Pro requires that you use a 32-bit winsock dll for
  151. your Internet connections.  In most cases, the Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking
  152. system will satisfy this requirement.  Some third-party winsocks, such as
  153. Trumpet, are also compatible with Teleport Pro.  If you are unsure of whether
  154. you are using a 32-bit winsock connection, contact your ISP or the
  155. organization that provided you with your connection software.

  157. Some third-party utilities can convert between a 16-bit winsock and an
  158. application like Teleport Pro that requires a 32-bit connection.  One such
  159. program is "connect-WSOCK32", a shareware utility available at

  165. MICROSOFT WINDOWS 95 BUG NOTE
  166. =============================
  167.  
  168. Microsoft has confirmed that a bug in the Windows 95 operating system may
  169. cause your computer to crash while using the Internet.  The bug slowly leaks
  170. resources each time a connection is established to the Internet.  Because
  171. Teleport Pro establishes many, many connections to the Internet while
  172. running, it is important that you install a patch from Microsoft that
  173. corrects this problem.  Microsoft makes the patch for United States users
  174. available at

  187. MICROSOFT SERVICE PACK 1 BUG NOTE

  190. Microsoft's Service Pack 1 contains a bug that can corrupt your system
  191. registry if you use Dial-Up Networking, or if you run applications that
  192. access Dial-Up Networking registry information (as Teleport Pro does).
  193. Microsoft has released a patch that corrects this bug.  The patch can be

  200. MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER 3.0 BUG NOTE

  203. Microsoft has confirmed that a bug in their Internet Explorer 3.0 Beta 2
  204. causes other applications' toolbar buttons to display as if disabled.
  205. Teleport Pro users will notice that the Refresh, Start, Pause, Stop, and
  206. Abort buttons of those programs will not appear to function properly if
  207. Internet Explorer 3.0 Beta 2 has been installed (although the buttons will
  208. continue to work).

  210. Microsoft has now released the Final Version of Internet Explorer 3.0.  This
  211. version corrects the toolbar bug in Beta 2.  Tennyson Maxwell strongly
  212. encourages users who still have the Beta 2 version to pick up the final
  213. version (it is free) on Microsoft's website.  A link to the proper page can

  220. REGISTERING TELEPORT PRO
  221. ========================

  223. Teleport Pro is shareware.  You are granted a free license to use this
  224. software 40 times, after which the license and the software both expire.  If
  225. you decide that you like Teleport Pro -- and we hope that you do! -- you can
  226. register it, keep it, and use it as much as you like.  Registering the
  227. program is just like buying it. There are really two good reasons to
  228. register Teleport Pro:
  229.  
  230.    1.  The program, and your license to use it, expire after you have used it
  231.        40 times.
  232.    2.  Until you register it, Teleport Pro will only retrieve up to 200 files
  233.        per project.
  234.  
  235. For now, registration costs only $39.95 US.  And your registration is valid
  236. for all upgrades to the Teleport Pro product.  This means that your
  237. registration number will work on every upgrade we release.  In fact, if you
  238. send us your email address when you register, weÆll notify you automatically
  239. every time we issue an upgrade.

  241. We can accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit cards.
  242. We can also accept checks or money orders drawn on a United States bank, or
  243. a foreign bank with a United States clearing house.

  245. To register Teleport Pro, simply select Register from the Help menu.
  246. Teleport Pro will display the Registration dialog box.  There are three
  247. options for sending us your registration information:

  249. Secure Server:  Press this button to launch your browser and visit our
  250. Secure Server.  Your order will be processed online and you will receive a
  251. registration code immediately!  Choose this option for fastest service.  You
  252. must have a secure browser (such as Netscape or Microsoft) to use this option.
  253. Credit card orders only, please.
  254.  
  255. CompuServe:  If you're a CompuServe member, press this button to launch
  256. CompuServe, then GO SWREG and register program # 12414.  Your CompuServe
  257. account will be billed for the account will be billed the cost of
  258. registration.  We will email your registration code to your CompuServe
  259. address when we receive notice of the order, usually within a week.

  261. Mail/Email/Fax: Press this button to display the Order Form and print it or
  262. save it to disk.  You can then mail or email it to us, or fax it to us.
